October 2019

Jen passed her Phase 1 check ride early in the month and we both enjoyed a break before we start Phase 2!

For my birthday Jen surprised me with some gifts and a video that she has been working on for weeks! She made me feel like the most loved person on earth and I am still watching this video at least once a day:) I am so blessed to have married an angel like her.

For Columbus weekend we went to ride dirt bikes in Mena, Arkansas with my family. They have trails that rank in the top 10 in the nation and have been a favorite place for my family to vacation for many years now. It was great to see Jen kill those technical trails with her mean riding skills! Check out the footage!!

While the Air Force was trying to figure out how they allowed too many students into pilot training we were given about a month break in between Phase 1 and Phase 2. During this time I Ran 202 miles, read 6 books, tried golf (I think I will hold off on that low energy sport for a few decades), and made a video about missing the beautiful mountains of Arizona. Here it is.

Jen and I both found our favorite inspiration; David Goggins. He does cuss from time to time and sometimes every other word, but I believe his book 'Can't Hurt Me' will be the last self-help book I will ever read. He is brutally honest in self exploration and after reading his book, excuses for mediocrity no longer make sense.

The last weekend of October we drove up to Memphis to go to a Fall Festival with my brother and his kiddos. It was a blast! Then we ran a 5k with my parents. My Mom and Dad both got 1st place for their age group! Jen and I hope to be that kind of shape when we are that age! Studs!

I started Phase 2 of Pilot Training on the 25th and Jen pressed on with enjoying her free time. While I spent 12 hours a day at the flight line, Jen traveled to California to help her mom with work and spent time with some of her friends as well as going to Louisiana to see another friend. She is one of the most selfless people I have ever met and I am incredibly thankful to get to spend my life with her by my side.

"You have to take control over your own mind or it will always choose the path of least resistance. It's goal is to protect you and by doing that it doesn't allow growth." - David Goggins
